Reasonable parents will think over in advance and discuss all aspects of the care and upbringing of the baby. But the question - to put on a baby gauze diapers or consisting of cellulose - remains open. Supporters from both sides abound.
Modern diapers are not yet fully understood, therefore, it is somewhat hasty to conclude that they are harmful. But all the grandmothers and mothers who grew up in Soviet times, in one voice will say that there are no better gauze diapers.
Advantages and disadvantages
Since many young mothers make their own living, time is money for them. Therefore, their choice is obvious: disposable diapers are invented specifically for these moms.
There are cases when a child has sensitive skin and diapers are more likely to harm him than help, then parents choose gauze diapers. And it happens that the mother herself chooses gauze diapers for newborns with confidence from the following fundamental considerations.
- They breathe well,
- Eco-friendly fabric;
- The probability of getting diaper dermatitis is minimal if diapers are changed in time;
- The ability to use them many times;
- Getting to the baby’s pot will be faster, as he will know what it is to be wet;

Although an automatic washing machine comes to the rescue of mom, there is still a great many cases to do. Parents often have to take long walks with the baby, and doing this by putting gauze diapers on them is more difficult than with ordinary ones.
The child may get wet and catch a cold, especially during the cold hours of the day. Children write once an hour or an hour and a half, so leaving for a long time, without being able to change a baby, is frivolous.

How to make (sew) a gauze diaper for a newborn
To sew a diaper is a snap. For this you need to find a suitable gauze. First of all, it needs to be washed, preferably manually, so that the smell of the store disappears and all the unwanted bacteria come out.
This is necessary in order not to be mistaken with the size. Gauze after washing sits, so after washing it should be straightened on the table, then folded, and on the edge to make an overlock, so that the threads do not dissolve.
Many mothers and grandmothers prefer a fine chintz to gauze, as it is softer and does not cause irritation. As a diaper, most moms use bedding, which has been washed several times and has become much softer.
You can sweep the diaper with a machine or manually, and if you don’t want to do this, then there is a ready-made set of gauze diapers in the children's underwear store.
The gauze should be of a dense structure, since the loose yarn is moved apart and voids are formed. The gauze itself should be cut into pieces, folded in three or four and swept over the edges.
Sizing
The size of the diapers depends on the height and weight of the infant. If the child is large, then it will fit a size of 90 to 90, and if the baby is slender - 45 to 90. The sizes of diapers can vary from small to large sizes.
It is very convenient when they are sewn independently. Many mothers get tired of constantly changing diapers, so they sew Velcro to them.

How to wear a gauze diaper to a newborn: folding methods
There are several ways to minimize:
- Kerchief;
- Rectangle;
- Hungarian.
The kerchief will work out if the diaper is folded in half so that a square is formed, and then folded again, but diagonally. The baby should be laid back on the longest part of the triangle, then one end stretch between the legs of the child to close the tummy.
Other ends can be tied or simply put on each other and tied with a string or elastic band.
The rectangle can be rolled up if the size of the diaper is 60 by 100 cm. The long end is folded several times until a multi-layered strip of size 20 by 60 is made.
From the same material should be stitched individual strips, which can easily fix the rectangular diaper on the baby.
He puts on the child is very simple, you first need to tuck it into 1/3 part and put it between the legs of the baby, and on the boy the big side should lie on the front, and the girls on the back. Then you need to press the gauze diaper on the child's belly, and fix the bandages.
For the Hungarian method required square cuts of gauze. The square fabric folds in half so that the fold is at the bottom. Then the left lower end of the fabric is taken and shifted to the upper, center point of the diaper and leveled. Outwardly, it looks like a square with a superimposed triangle.
The next step is to turn the fabric and get the opposite view. That is, you get a triangle with a square on the left. This square must be bent a few centimeters until you get a rectangle in the middle.
As a result, the diaper will look like a kerchief with a center of a rectangle. A baby is put on this middle, a rectangle falls between its legs, and a peculiar panties will be made from a scarf.
This method is very convenient, but for this you need a certain skill. As soon as mom learns to swaddle in the Hungarian way, she does not want to fold in another way, since these original panties fit well on the body of a newborn.
Washing and operation process
The lack of gauze diapers is that they have to be washed frequently. But before you begin this procedure, they should certainly be freed from feces.
In newborns, feces are runny, washed first under running water, then polluted with gauze diapers rubbed with baby soap, washed in clean water, and only then can they be thrown into an automatic washing machine.
Some mothers prefer to wash by hand. To do this, after pre-washing a homemade gauze diaper, they put it in a special aluminum bucket and put it on the stove to bring it to a boil.
But now there is no need, any automatic machine has a boiling mode, so by setting the machine to 90 ° or 100 °, you can do other things and not worry about the baby’s underwear. It will come out perfectly washed and sterilized.
In addition, these machines squeeze well washed things, especially diapers, which dry in two or three hours is not difficult. But if the mother does not want to wash the children's diapers daily, then she will have to sew or buy them much more. Usually a set of twenty-five pieces is enough for two days.
General rules for the use of gauze diapers
It should be remembered that the skin of the child requires mandatory treatment with a special cream that prevents diaper dermatitis. Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of using gauze pampers is that it’s impossible to protect the baby’s skin completely from feces.
Gauze fabric can not completely absorb moisture, so the delicate baby skin is in contact with urine and feces. Here are two tips on how to use a gauze diaper:
- The child must be washed every time after he has soiled the diaper;
- You should also remove the gauze diaper immediately after the baby gets wet.
The skin of newborns is very delicate and may leave traces of excrement on it, so children bathe twice a day and wash away after they finish their “affairs”.
Even parents, especially mothers, should remember: gauze or other diapers should sit on the newborn in such a way as not to rub his tender skin. If after the diaper on the skin, the child has redness, then it does not fit in size.
