As an active ingredient in the composition of Livarol is ketoconazole. This element has fungicidal and fungistatic effects.

In addition, it has a depressant effect on yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, streptococci and staphylococci. Its mechanical effect consists in inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, as well as in changing the lipid composition of the membrane.

In addition to the active component, there are auxiliary elements in the composition:

  • butyloxyanisole;
  • polyethylene oxide 1500;
  • polyethylene oxide 400.

  3. For children up to 12 years. The fact is that the mechanism of action of the components on the child’s body has not been studied, for this reason it is not known how they can affect it;
  4. If there are open wounds on the vaginal mucosa. It is best to wait for complete healing, because with the introduction of a candle through a wound, infection can occur, and an increased flow of the main element into the systemic circulation can also be observed.

Livarol Candles: instructions for use

Before you begin using the medication, be sure to carefully consider its description and scheme of use. Usually the dose and period of use depends on the symptoms, the severity of the disease.

Recommendations for the use of suppositories in gynecology:

  • in the presence of acute candidiasis of the vagina (thrush) it is recommended to insert into the vagina one suppository with the dosage of the active ingredient 400 mg. Introduced once a day. The treatment period should be 5 days;
  • During the treatment of vaginal candidiasis with a chronic and recurrent form, 1 candle per day is inserted into the vagina. Application course 10 days;
  • With the preventive treatment of candidiasis, you need to insert 1 candle every day. The period of application should be 5 days. Begin to use immediately after the end of menstruation. If necessary, the course can be repeated every month.
