Do you think it is possible to cook an egg in the microwave? Is it worth it to get involved in this process or is it better to use the old "good" stewpan? Now we will try to tell you about all this in detail.

For some reason, it is considered that eggs and microwaves are as ardent enemies as, say, milk and cucumbers. From the point of view of physics, this is true, but it is still possible to cook them in any microwave oven: for example, pour water and salt, without cleaning it from the shell.

Cooking without shell is also possible: then the finished product will not be spherical, but it will still be edible.

Precautionary measures

Instructions to any microwave oven will necessarily contain the item not to cook eggs in it. However, if you approach this intelligently, you can do without visible problems. There are a few little things that must be remembered:

  • you should not use dishes made of metal or with a gold-plated border, as this may spoil the microwave;

Some cooks, however, recommend cooking one egg at a time: it is believed that the risk of an explosion decreases.

Fill the eggs with water so that it completely covers them. Choose the water temperature yourself, but if it is boiling, they will brew faster. At least 1 cm of water should remain above the surface.

Pulling the bowl out of the microwave is better at the moment when it seems that the dish is not ready yet: the yolk is designed so that the internal temperature will “cook” it even after you pull it out of the microwave oven.
