Causes and symptoms of increased glucose in men and women

It has been established that the occurrence of high blood sugar levels is never possible without some specific reason preceding it. The main are the following:

  • eating large amounts of food, especially one that contains fast-absorbing carbohydrates;
  • addiction to alcohol or smoking;
  • the presence of permanent stressful situations;
  • history of diabetes mellitus;
  • hormonal diseases, such as thyrotoxicosis;
  • diseases of the kidneys, liver or pancreas;
  • temporary or permanent use of contraceptives, steroids or diuretic drugs;
  • in women with premenstrual syndrome.

If high glucose levels are detected during analysis, patients are usually advised to drink sugar syrup and re-take blood after 2 hours. After all, its increase may be caused by an insufficient break after a previous meal.

Increased sugar or hypoglycemia may be identified for a variety of symptoms:

  • the constant desire to drink and the feeling of dryness in the mouth;
  • painful quite frequent urination;
  • pulse arrhythmia;
  • rapid fatigue;
  • constant weight loss on the background of the same diet as before;
  • itchy skin;
  • drop in vision;
  • long wound healing.

If you feel even 2-3 of these symptoms, then it is urgent to visit a specialized endocrinologist to identify their true causes and prescription of treatment.

Drugs aimed at lowering glucose levels are extremely important for people with type 2 diabetes. What drugs quickly reduce sugar? Today, they have been developed quite a lot, but absolutely everything can be attributed to one of three groups:

  1. Biguanides. The only drug in this group is metformin. It has a more peripheral effect, helping to reduce insulin resistance.
  2. Sulfonylurea. A fairly large group of medications, which are based on glibenclamide (for example, manin) or glimepiride (for example, amaril). Their action is aimed at stimulating the work of the pancreas and not in all cases it is possible to use them for people with type 2 diabetes.
