What is prescribed Erespal: instructions for use, analogs of the drug

Erespal is a medicine that is used for diseases of the lower respiratory tract (trachea, larynx, bronchus). It is used in several dosage forms depending on the disease and convenience for the patient. The tool should be used only as prescribed by a doctor.

What kind of medicine: the principle of action and basic properties

The main active ingredient is fenspirid. Dosage forms contain various excipients that make the use of the medicine more enjoyable. Fenspirid has anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antispasmodic action.

The drug affects the metabolic processes in the bronchi, making them less susceptible to bronchoconstricting effects (eg, adrenaline). This allows you to prevent bronchospasms, reduce the intensity of the inflammatory process, as well as reduce the production of allergy mediators - histamine, bradykinin and others.

All dosage forms are intended for ingestion, the active substance is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The highest concentration in the blood is reached 2 hours after administration, and elimination occurs after 12 hours. The drug is almost completely excreted through the kidneys.

In connection with such features of the metabolism, the agent can be used as a medicine for the treatment of long-lasting pathologies. It is possible to take courses for the prevention of exacerbations, but the drug is not used for emergency care for patients with acute symptoms of pathology.

What helps

The drug is prescribed for pathologies of the lower respiratory tract. Indications for use:

  • laryngitis and tracheitis;
  • bronchitis (acute and chronic);
  • bronchial asthma (for the prevention of seizures);
  • childhood infections with cough - measles, whooping cough;
  • cough of obscure origin, disturbing the patient.

The drug can also be prescribed for diseases of the upper respiratory tract and ENT organs - sore throat, flu, sinusitis, otitis. The drug is available in two dosage forms - syrup and tablets. Each of them has its own peculiarities of application.

Syrup

Syrup is intended mainly for children. It is a clear, thick, brown liquid. With prolonged storage, sediment may occur, but when agitating it disappears. The drug is prescribed for the treatment of childhood diseases, accompanied by cough, bronchitis and laryngitis, in the complex therapy of bronchial asthma.

Pills

Erespal 80 mg tablets are intended for adults. They are used in severe chronic diseases of the lower respiratory tract - laryngitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, some types of allergic diseases, chronic cough. Sometimes used for colds, but in adults such use is impractical.

How to apply: instruction

Both dosage forms are intended for ingestion. Adults and adolescents take 1-2 tablespoons (30-60 mg of active ingredient) three times a day before meals or 1-2 tablets (80-160 mg of active ingredient) once a day before meals.

Children are given syrup in view of their body weight; tablets are not recommended because they contain too much of a dose for a child.

Allowed for children over 2 years old. Pregnant and lactating women are not recommended to take it - there are no data on the safety of the drug, clinical trials have not been conducted. However, the use of Erespal during pregnancy is not an indication for abortion.

The duration of the course of treatment is determined by the doctor; on average, it is about 2-3 months. The drug should not be taken with alcohol - for the duration of treatment it is better to refrain from drinking. Perhaps an increase in sedation when taking sedatives and antihistamines. There is no other data on drug interactions.

Use the medicine should always be before a meal, observing the intervals between doses of about 8 hours. Syrup before use shaken to dissolve the precipitate. The shelf life of intact packaging is 3 years, the opened bottle of syrup is stored for 30 days.

Contraindications and side effects

The tool should not be taken in case of hypersensitivity to one of its components. Also, do not use the medicine for pregnant and lactating women, children under 2 years old.

In case of diabetes mellitus, tablets should be taken, since the syrup contains sucrose (9 g per tablespoon of syrup).

If you need to use syrup, you should adjust the daily dose of insulin. When lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, impaired digestion and absorption of disaccharides syrup should be used with caution. Tablets are safer in this case.

The most common side effect is abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting caused by taking the drug. Possible increased heart rate, drowsiness, feeling of weakness, rash, skin redness, allergic manifestations. Overdose can cause severe nausea and vomiting, weakness, palpitations. If there are side effects, you need to tell the doctor about it as soon as possible - it may be necessary to replace the drug.

What is the difference between Erispirus and Erespal?

Erispirus contains the same active ingredient as Erespal - fenspiride. It is available in the form of syrup and tablets, the content of the active substance in them is the same.

The difference lies only in the manufacturer. Erispirus is produced in Slovenia, and Erespal is produced in France or in Russia under the license of the French company Servier Laboratory. This is due to the difference in price, but not in the effectiveness of drugs.

What to replace or what is better - Erespal or ...

For various reasons, there may be situations where the reception of Erespal is impossible or undesirable. In such cases, the question arises of the need to replace it with any analogue. The doctor should do this, but it will be helpful for the patient to have an idea of the criteria by which the specialist recommends this or that drug.

Ascoril

Ascoril is a drug that contains several active substances at once. It includes salbutamol (relieves bronchospasm), bromhexin, and guaifenzine (phlegm is removed). The tool is prescribed for diseases of the bronchi and lungs - bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. It has simultaneously bronchodilator and mucolytic action.

Unlike Erespal, the use of Ascoril when coughing with unclear etiology and diseases of the upper respiratory tract is inappropriate. Despite the presence of salbutamol in the composition, the tool should not be used to relieve attacks of bronchial asthma - it is much better to cope with the task of preventing attacks and sputum in the bronchi.

Since Ascoril contains three active ingredients, it often causes allergic reactions. Also, its interaction with other drugs is much more complicated than that of Erespal. There is evidence of severe manifestations of allergy to Ascoril, which rarely occur on Erespal.

Unlike Erespal, Ascoril can be taken not from 2, but from 6 years old - at an earlier age, the drug is contraindicated. He also has peptic ulcer disease in the list of contraindications, so with this disease it is better to prefer Erespal.

Lasolvan

Lasolvan is a fairly well-known cough remedy in the domestic market. Its active ingredient is Ambroxol (mucolytic). This tool speeds up the discharge of sputum, dilutes it, prevents the accumulation.

The tool is used for bronchitis, bronchiectasis, cough with sputum of any origin, pneumonia. Unlike Erespal, it does not apply to bronchial asthma.

Lasolvan can be used during pregnancy in the second and third trimester, being careful and under the supervision of a physician. In the first trimester, both Lasolvan and Erespal are prohibited. Lasolvan can be used at any age (up to 2 years old - strictly according to doctor's prescription, with caution). It is believed that the drug based on ambroxol is safer than Erespal, but it also has a more limited spectrum of action compared to fenspiride.

Fluditec

The active ingredient of Flutek is carbocysteine. This is a mucolytic agent, similar in pharmacological action to acetylcysteine. It has the ability to facilitate the discharge of sputum with a wet cough, bronchitis, bronchiectasis and pneumonia. In case of bronchial asthma it is not used, since it is not effective enough.

Available in the form of syrup for adults with the smell of caramel (50 mg of active ingredient in 1 ml) and syrup for children with banana flavor (20 mg / ml). Children's syrup is used from 2 years, an adult - from 12. In pregnancy, the drug can be used in the 2nd and 3rd trimester.

Fluditec and Erespal are comparable in effectiveness in treating cough and bronchial diseases, but in bronchial asthma, Erespal is much more effective. Children's syrup Flyuditek easier to use than Erespal, not having a special form of release for children.

Siresp

Siresp contains the same active ingredient as Erespal - fenspirid. The concentration of the active substance in Siresp is less, which makes its use more convenient for children, but inconvenient for adults. Siresp tablets are not available. The difference in the appointment of both means is insignificant. The dosages of Siresp for adults are significantly higher than Erespal.

The drug Erespal and its analogues, containing fenspirid, are effective remedies against diseases of the lower respiratory tract and cough of various nature. Dispensed from pharmacies with a prescription, since the list of side effects is quite large.
