Althea syrup is a well-known drug that is used in various inflammatory processes in the lower and upper respiratory tract. It belongs to the group of mucolytics, the main advantage is the natural composition.

For kids

Despite the fact that Althea syrup seems safe, it is imperative to follow the indicated dosage in the instructions. The speed of recovery depends largely on the regular intake of funds. Drink it after every meal. In case of violation of this recommendation, the effect of the use of herbal remedies is reduced, it is possible to dull the taste sensations.

The minimum age at which Althea syrup is allowed is 1 year and older. In some cases, these rules can be violated, but this requires mandatory consultation with your doctor.

Dosage for children:

  • younger than 6 years - 0.5 tsp, the multiplicity of reception - 5 times a day;
  • children aged 6 to 12 give one teaspoon 5 times a day;
  • for older children - 1 tablespoon 5 times a day.

If the children do not like the taste of the syrup, it can be taken by diluting in a small amount of water or apple juice. A tablespoon of the product is diluted in 100 ml of water, tea - in 50 ml of water. Duration of reception from cough is 14 days. The syrup storage period is one and a half years.

For adults

Adults require one tablespoon of syrup, which is diluted in a glass of water or 60 mg of syrup, which is divided into four doses. Take the medicine for 2 weeks.

For pregnant

What are the contraindications?

Main contraindication: the use of herbal remedies with the simultaneous reception of any antitussive drugs.   • glucose-galactose malabsorption.

They can be given also to children, having previously dissolved in water. After consultation with your doctor, Mukaltin is allowed to take during pregnancy, during the period of nursing.
  2. Bronhofit. This is a herbal remedy that promotes sputum discharge and suppresses the inflammatory process. Available in oral form. Can only be used to treat adult patients.
  3. Bronhinol. The therapeutic effect of its use is explained by the presence in the composition of the plantain, eucalyptus oil and mint. Available in the form of syrup, which can be used to treat children over 6 years old. Contraindicated for use in pregnant and lactating patients.
  4. Cough tablets containing sodium bicarbonate and thermopsis as the main component. It has an expectorant effect. Tablets can be given to patients older than 12 years, but they are prohibited for pregnant and lactating mothers.
