Lasolvan is included in the group of mucolytic and expectorant drugs. Available in syrup and tablet form. The tool can be taken both adults and children.
Composition and pharmacological action

Lasolvan belongs to the group of mucolytics, that is, it changes the physical and chemical properties of sputum, which leads to its liquefaction. The drug is sold in blisters of ten tablets, packed in a cardboard box. In one pack two or five blisters.
Studies show that Ambroxol increases the secretory activity of the respiratory tract, stimulates the production of pulmonary surfactant and increases the activity of the ciliated epithelium.
These actions cause an increased outflow and elimination of mucus (mucociliary clearance). After taking the remedies, a significant cough relief is also noted.
Ambroxol is rapidly and almost completely absorbed. The rate of absorption depends on the amount of drug taken, not exceeding the therapeutic dose.
The maximum content in the plasma occurs in 30-180 minutes. In therapeutic doses, the compound with blood proteins reaches 90%.
The active substance when ingested quickly enough gets into the tissue. The highest content of the active component is noted in the lungs.
About 1/3 of the dose initially passed through the liver. During experiments on hepatocyte microsomes, it was found that CYP3A4 is the predominant isoform responsible for metabolic processes in the active substance. Residues of the active component are metabolized in the liver primarily by conjugation.
The duration of the half-life of the active substance is about ten hours. The total purification rate is about 660 ml per minute, about 8% of Ambroxol is eliminated through the kidneys.
During clinical trials, no correlation was found between pharmacokinetics, gender, and age.
Thus, the choice of dose for these parameters can be considered impractical.
Indications and contraindications
The main indications for use are respiratory diseases with the formation of a thick secret:
- acute bronchitis, a chronic form of the disease;
- pneumonia;
- COPD (obstructive pulmonary disease);
- bronchial asthma with difficult secretion clearance;
- BEB (bronchiectatic disease).
Contraindications:
- the first three months of pregnancy;

Use during pregnancy and lactation
The active ingredient easily overcomes the placental barrier, but during animal experiments no adverse effects on the course of pregnancy or labor activity have been identified.
Clinical observations were also made of pregnant women who had been taking Lasolvan for four weeks. Data on teratogenic (harmful to the fetus) action was not obtained.
Despite this, standard precautions should be taken when using the product for pregnant women. It is not recommended reception lasolvana in the first trimester.
The active ingredient penetrates into breast milk, so lasolvan is not prescribed to nursing women (even though a negative effect on newborns is unlikely).
Side effects and overdose
As a rule, Lasolvan is well tolerated, but some patients still have minor side effects.

- nausea;
- vomiting;

Persons taking syrup (15 mg / 5 ml) should take into account that 30 ml of the drug contain 10.5 g of sorbitol. For this reason, the tool is not suitable for those suffering from hereditary fructose intolerance. Syrup may also have a slight laxative effect.
The recommended daily dose of tablets (120 mg) contains 684 mg of lactose. Persons suffering from hereditary intolerance to galactose, can not take the tool.
The treatment with Lasolvan registered severe, extremely rare lesions of the skin (Lyell syndrome and Stevens-Johnson syndrome), but their direct relation to the treatment has not been proven.
