German Shepherd training - rules and features, video tutorials

The training of the German shepherd should be necessary if you do not want the main place in the house to be fixed to the dog. However, this process is quite difficult, since it requires from the owner and skills, and knowledge, and patience, and endurance.

Basics of training

Timely training is an integral part of the dog's life. During training, shepherd features are adjusted: the development of certain skills or, conversely, the elimination of uncharacteristic breeds of traits. By acting on a pet, you can learn to control his behavior, prompting the dog to carry out certain commands.

If the “German” is not coached, he will be guided by his needs and will be influenced by the environment.

The difficult process of training requires a specialist and years of experience, and a professional approach, since you need to take into account the nervous system of the dog, its physical form, remember reflexes, which are divided into unconditioned and basic.

Unconditioned reflexes

They are inherited congenital reactions. They are distinguished by constant accuracy, help the dog to survive in the surrounding world. Also divided into several subgroups:

  • defensive - self-defense animal;
  • food, appearing from birth, is the need for food (most often these reflexes are used by trainers);
  • sexual.

These are the basic reflexes, however there are also others: schooling, domination, maternal instinct. Some reflexes can prevail over others, which is very important for proper training.

Conditioned reflexes

The dog acquires similar reactions throughout life, and with proper training they will help to carry out all the necessary exercises and commands. Share on natural and artificial. The first group includes the reaction to natural stimuli, for example, the smell of food - these reflexes remain in the character of the pet for a long time. Artificial reactions are taught to pets, this is called education.

An important point should be noted: acquired reflexes may disappear if the animal loses interest in it.

The basic concepts of training

The responsible owner must understand that there is a serious difference between teaching teams and raising a dog. Training must begin at a certain age. Forcibly forcing a kid to do something can not be, because he does not understand the mechanical commands - they can scare him. And this should not be allowed, because in the future the dog will not obey you, but will be afraid.

In this case, it is important to know when to start training? The best puppy age is 1.5-2 months, and all the necessary vaccinations should be given.

It is best to start a lesson before a meal, because it is a delicacy that will help teach your puppy, because training in this way will bring joy to the kid, which means that the result will be faster. In the first few months, the exercises will consist of games, which will delight the German Shepherd puppy.

The general course of training begins with six months, and, in order to achieve maximum results, first it is better to turn to a cynologist who will select individual training based on the nature of the person. Even a few lessons with a specialist will give a certain result - the owner will better understand how to conduct the training correctly.

First classes for a puppy

To train successfully, you should follow a few rules.

First, the owner must be patient with the pet - there must be a strong relationship of trust. Otherwise, you can grow an evil and very nervous dog. As soon as you can achieve a trusting relationship without shouting, you can safely begin to accustom the dog to the first team - “To me!”.

Secondly, you need to encourage your pet after each executed command: a piece of cheese, special cookies for the animal will do (you do not need to use regular cookies, since there is a lot of sugar in it).

Also choose the right time - it is better either in the morning before breakfast, or in the evening before dinner. In addition, the rest of the time the puppy may be tired or too hungry for perception of information.

And in order to set up a puppy for training, it is worth learning the "Engage" command.

It should be noted that the shepherd dogs are very temperamental animals, because it is so important to be patient and persistent in order to fully work out the commands. Try to regularly train your pet, without missing classes, to consolidate the results of training.

There are several features of studying the commands and raising a puppy depending on age:

  1. 2-3 months is the age when the puppy adapts to the environment, this period is the best time for training by such teams as Sit, Ko Me, Lie down. At this age, the pet is very emotional, because it is so important to be as gentle and friendly as possible.
  2. By 4 months, the dog should know its owner by executing commands such as "Near" and "Stand."
  3. By six months, the puppy is already becoming a teenager, at this stage you need to be extremely attentive, because the pet begins to show its character, it becomes uncontrollable. Try not to yield to him, be a little cruel, trying to defend authority, but in no case beat the dog.
  4. By 6-8 months, it will be clear what characteristics the shepherd dog will have. It is necessary to decide what exactly you want to train your pet or just bring it up, what needs to be removed from the character, and what should be left. After that, you can already refer to the dog handler, taking at least a few lessons from him.

The German Shepherd is a versatile breed that has many features. Due to its high intelligence, this animal is capable of very much: to be a protector, guard, shepherd dogs also have good hearing, sharp eyesight, excellent physical strength. The correct approach to training depends largely on the individual characteristics of the pet.

The most important thing is to make the puppy understand who is the master of the house, to be sure of his unquestioning obedience.
