Causes and treatment of panic attacks in women and men

In the people, panic attacks are called panic, when a person does not control his emotions, he has uncertain fears. This phenomenon can be called mental excitement, which appeared due to any psychological trauma, depression or diseases of the nervous system.

Panic can even be called a disease, because in its process with the human body the following happens: sweating appears, the heart begins to beat much more often, pallor on the face, it becomes difficult to breathe and so on.

It can be felt about three times a week and last for an hour, if you do not consult a neuropathologist, a psychologist or a psychiatrist in time.

Types and stages of panic attacks

Depending on what happened to a person for a short time, three types of panic attacks are classified in medicine:

  • it may be associated with some situation, because of which a person was subjected to psychomotor agitation (the so-called situational panic attack). The attack, as a rule, can occur when a person is waiting for or suggests that some kind of nervous or terrible event should happen soon. Situational panic often occurs during the excitement;
  • when a person has taken a large dose of alcohol or drugs, he may have a conditional situational panic, which may continue until all harmful toxins due to alcohol or narcotic substances are removed from the human body;
  • it so happens that a person for no reason at all can simply fall into panic. In this case, a spontaneous panic attack occurs, which can occur at any time without any reason.

Panic attacks have several stages of development. This means that panic carries with it sequential chemical or biological changes in the human body.

First, adrenaline is released. Following this is the constriction of the blood vessels, which increases the strength and frequency of the heartbeat, and after that the respiratory rate.

Further, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood may decrease and lactic acid accumulates in the peripheral tissues.

Panic attacks: the causes of women and men

No matter how strange it may sound, panic has its own diagnosis, which is established as a result of many examinations and trials - vascular dystonia with a crisis course. This disease may occur due to many reasons, but it has not been established yet.

It is believed that this may be on the genetic part, if someone in the family had frequent panic attacks. There are suggestions that parents improperly educated their children, beat them, paid little or, conversely, too much attention.

The following causes of panic are also given:

  • any pathology in the normal functioning of the nervous system. There may be reasons for some congenital anomalies. This also includes various diseases not only of the brain, but also of other organs. The cause of panic attacks can also be various infections, viruses, disability or recent surgery by doctors;
  • in childhood, the child was subjected to any psychological trauma or was not in a completely favorable environment, for example, parents used alcohol or drugs, or behaved unacceptably with their children;
  • unique factors of the nervous system or human temperament;
  • the influence of various kinds of stress factors. Stress can be both positive and negative. In the first case, panic attacks may be, for example, at the birth of a child or winning a jackpot in the amount of 1 million rubles, and in the second, there may be a death of a close or familiar person, or bankruptcy;
  • The last reason may be the adoption of any drugs that increase adrenaline in the blood or, conversely, reduce blood pressure. As a rule, these are the most commonly used drugs. Such drugs as caffeine, amphetamine, cocaine and others must be categorically excluded from their "diet"!

Panic Attack: Symptoms

Symptoms of panic can be many factors. It must be remembered that this is all connected not only with the nervous system, but also with the cardiovascular part of our body. It is because of heart problems and drops in blood pressure that panic attacks occur.

Doctors also suggest any psychological states, for example, it can be a sudden aggression or crying. Do not discard the moment that panic attacks can be expressed by lack of understanding and non-acceptance of reality by the person. They are divided into:

  • typical panic - this is suitable for those who have problems with the cardiovascular system, which were discussed at the beginning of the section. At the same time, the person begins to "jump" the pressure, he feels pain in the heart, it starts to beat more often. If this is observed, you should immediately call an ambulance, because the attacks can last a very long time, and the pain will increase. The following symptoms may be: choking, nausea and vomiting, dizziness;
  • atypical panic - this is due to the termination of the normal functionality of the brain. At the same time, vision or hearing deteriorates, impaired coordination of movements, abundant urination, fainting, a feeling of a lump in the throat and vomiting begins;

It is advisable to check with a psychiatrist, cardiologist, neuropathologist, endocrinologist and psychologist to determine the exact diagnosis, based on one or more of the above symptoms.

How panic attacks are treated

Treatment should definitely be a specialist. It is he who will prescribe what is the best way to take medications and do various procedures.

Until recently, people took various tranquilizers and sedatives, but still they can not only improve their health, but also worsen. The likelihood that there will be no relapse (recurrence of panic attacks) is 50 to 50!

In no case do not buy any tranquilizers in the pharmacy, because besides the fact that they will improve brain function, there may also be side effects, including death. It is your doctor who is treating you, who must ascribe the drugs that are right for you, judging by your state of health, nervous and cardiovascular systems.

You can take the drug Eltacin, which has been tested for years and can soothe your nervous sensitivity, improves sleep performance, relieves excess tension, etc. However, now the treatment of panic attacks with the help of pharmaceuticals is not the most important thing in modern medicine. The main weapon against panic - a reception from a psychotherapist.

A psychotherapist selects a treatment method. He tells the person what is happening with his nervous system and tries to explain how best to avoid panic attacks.

The essence of psychotherapeutic treatment is that the doctor should tell everything very clearly and guide the patient to the correct and effective self-treatment. His job is that he will certainly provide some recommendations and tips that will be very useful for the future. The psychotherapist attributes some antidepressants if necessary.

Prevention

Prevention of panic attacks is the prevention of panic in people suffering from diseases of the cardiovascular system. If you have a poor coordination or sleep, you can immediately proceed to treatment, and if there is a slight nervousness or frequent agitation, you can take preventive measures.

One of these is the adoption of various kinds of sedatives, which also have a positive effect on the brain and heart. At the pharmacy, you can ask the pharmacist what is best to prevent panic attacks, headaches, etc. Do not self-medicate, because it can adversely affect your health.

Remember that it is better to do prophylaxis now, than to suffer and go to doctors in an attempt to cure vascular dystonia, which spoils your full life!

There were cases when people were treated for several years before panic attacks left their bodies, so make a short-term disease prevention and be always healthy!
