Mildronate is a metabolic drug designed to restore the body's performance during various overloads.
Release form, composition and pharmacology of the drug
There are three forms of release of this drug:
- Colorless solution for internal injections;
- Gelatin capsules with a hygroscopic white crystalline powder inside;
- Tablets of 250 or 500 mg.
The solution is available in 5 ml ampoules, in one pack contains 10 ampoules. Capsules and tablets are packaged in blisters of 10 pieces, in packs of 2 or 4 blisters.
The active ingredient of this drug is Meldonium dihydrate. Auxiliary substances are starch, silica, calcium stearate.
The active substance is a synthetic agent, a related vitamin of group B. The use of meldonium is characterized by:
- improvement of metabolic processes;
- reduction of the body overvoltage;
- increase efficiency and activity;
- strengthening immunity.
In heart failure, meldonium improves the functioning of the heart, intensifying contractions of the heart, thereby reducing the frequency of strokes. In case of myocardial damage, mildronate contributes to the normalization of blood circulation in ischemic injuries.
The beneficial effect on the central nervous system of meldonium contributes to the restoration of the body during prolonged toxic loads.
In which cases it is recommended to use mildronate
It is very important to study the indications for use of this drug. Mildronate is indicated for reception only to adults. Doctors advise taking this tool in the following cases:
- heart disease, including ischemic, insufficiency, various forms of cardiopathy;
- stroke;
- reduced level of performance;
- retinopathy, including diabetic;
- retinal hemorrhages, including thrombosis;
- physical stress overload;
- absolution under alcoholism;
- chronic lung diseases, including bronchitis, asthma.
It is worth noting the fact that mildronate is practically not prescribed separately, mainly in complex therapy. Due to such properties of meldonium, as blood saturation with oxygen, it can become an excellent additional tool in the treatment of these diseases.
Since meldonium is a means that speeds up the metabolism, it is actively used for weight loss. It improves metabolism, so athletes often use it during the so-called drying.
Contraindications
It is forbidden to take the drug under the following conditions:
- early age (it is not recommended to take until reaching the age of majority);
- renal or hepatic impairment (to determine the dosage should consult with your doctor);
- increased pressure inside the skull, including the tumor;
- pregnancy;
- intolerance meldonium or auxiliary components of the drug.

Instructions for use of the drug mildronat
Under different conditions of treatment for this drug, individual dosages are prescribed. It is better to consult with your doctor before use what dosages are needed in this case.
Usually, for cardiovascular diseases, the drug is prescribed in a volume of 0.5 - 1 g per day. The course of treatment generally ranges from one to one and a half months. For dyshormonal heart disease, it is recommended to take 250 mg of the drug twice a day. Treatment in such cases lasts no more than two weeks.

Use during lactation and pregnancy
The drug is relatively new and not all aspects have been thoroughly studied, so it is not recommended to use mildronate during pregnancy. During lactation it is also worth refraining from using meldonium.
Side effects
Mildronate is not a toxic drug, so side effects are practically not detected. These may include:
- tachycardia;
- overexcitement;
- increase or decrease in blood pressure;
- belching, vomiting, or other disorders of the digestive tact;
- allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, swelling);
- increased heart rate.
To avoid adverse drug reactions, it is necessary to closely monitor the means with which the complex is used. Some medicines may have an enhanced effect due to their combined use with meldronate.
In addition, it is necessary to take into account the use of harmful food, alcohol and other toxic substances. Individual intolerance to the drug also plays an important role.
