The longest streets are champions in Russia and the world.

People tend to be interested in all sorts of records. Scientists, researchers and enthusiasts are simply wasting their time to tell us which animal is the fastest, which waterfall is the biggest, and other similar facts. With this information, we understand how amazing and diverse our world.

Information about the longest streets in the world may seem curious to many. It is interesting to imagine such an object in your city, although some of them are longer than most cities in size.

The longest straight street in the world

This record assumes that the street will be a straight line, without turning anywhere or looping.

The longest direct highway in the world is the Red Avenue in the Russian Novosibirsk. This almost seven-kilometer-long avenue (6947 m) was designed at the end of the 19th century, and many historical buildings remained on it.

If we consider not only objects within the same city, then the record for the length of the direct section is 145.6 km and this segment of the road belongs to the Australian Air Highway.

The longest central thoroughfare among world capitals

Here primacy belongs to Bangkok - the capital of Thailand. Its central and main trade route goes far beyond the city limits, crosses many provincial cities and settlements.

It is called Sukhumvit in honor of the official responsible for road construction in Thailand. For the grandeur of the plan it was quite possible to receive such an honor - the length of Sukhumvit is 491 km.

World record - 1800 km?

For a long time, Young Street in the Canadian Toronto was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest in the world. It was believed that it stretched for 1896 km from the city, passing by the lakes of Ontario and Simcoe and ending only on the border with the American Minnesota.

However, in reality this is not the case, and the length of Young Street, as it is now known, is only 86,000 m. And then it goes to highway 11. The highway is named after the close friend of the first commander of Upper Canada D. Simko. This friend was an expert on ancient Roman roads.

Now the Americans want to include in the book of records their Pan-American highway, which stretches 48,000 km across the country.

Other longest objects from around the world:

  • already mentioned Sukhumvit;
  • Primorskoe sh. in St. Petersburg - 170 km;
  • Moscow Ring Road - 109 km;
  • Fifty-kilometer Second Longitudinal highway in Volgograd;
  • D. Kunaev Street in the relatively small Kazakhstani city of Tekeli - 35 km;
  • the famous New York Broadway - 25 km.

The appearance of modern cities is constantly changing, and perhaps other names will soon appear on this list.

The longest pedestrian street

You can’t drive a car along the longest pedestrian street in the world, so you should get ready for a long walk, which stretches for 1,800 meters. This is Stroget in the capital of Denmark. For Copenhagen, this is the main thoroughfare.
